Sound Healing for Practitioners, with Carly Chamberlain

Sound Healing for Practitioners, with Carly Chamberlain

At the serene ELE|NA Spa at OBLU XPERIENCE Aailafushi, in the Maldives, a transformative two-day sound healing course was held recently for practitioners and instructors. Led by Carly Chamberlain, a seasoned professional with 15 years of experience, the course delved deep into the ancient roots and powerful healing properties of sound.

Participants gained valuable skills throughout the course to offer their guests a peaceful sound experience. After completing the course, everyone received an accredited certificate empowering them to deliver sound healing.

The Essence of Sound Healing: A Path to Wellness

Thousands of years ago, Indian yogis mapped the ancient chakra energy identifying the body’s seven energy centers. Sound healing incorporates Tibetan singing bowls that are designed to align with the body’s chakras. Each bowl creates a distinct healing frequency addressing both mental and physical well-being. The seven bowls in Carly’s set correspond to these energies, with each bowl size reflecting and correlating to the energies in our body and the universe. The larger bowls produce a deeper sound, reflecting the root and earth energy, while the smaller bowls address slightly different energy centers in the body. The highest frequency is associated with universal energy. Carly emphasizes that different frequencies can significantly affect our mental state, especially for therapists. The fastest gamma waves are linked with stress often caused by the constant grip deadlines have on individuals. While gamma waves are vital for focus, prolonged effects can lead to burnout. Therefore, Carly stresses the importance of “slowing down.”

Carly’s Unique Approach

Carly has a strong background in both remedial therapy and holistic methods. She brings a unique perspective to leading the sound healing course by combining science with ancient healing practices. She believes it’s important for therapists to understand the reasons behind these practices:

As she puts it, “It’s equally crucial for therapists to understand the “why” and “how” behind these practices. I often feel like it’s only about the experience and the art.”

Carly’s teaching philosophy ensures that her students gain theoretical knowledge and practical skills. She creates a supportive and engaging learning environment, encouraging participants to connect with their healing while learning to help others.

Throughout the course, participants learnt about brain chemistry, brain waves, and how sound can positively affect physical health, easing issues like high blood pressure and stress. They also learn about different brain states to understand that healing occurs when brain chemistry shifts to lower states, helping the brain to enter deep rest.

The Course Experience

The Sound Healing course by Carly complemented ELE|NA’s holistic wellness approach by balancing mind, body, and spirit. On the first day, participants explored the theory of sound and its origins and gained hands-on experience with the bowl.

The second day of the course focused on the different energy centers of the bowl and the body while learning to build trust in the singing bowls.

At the end of the course, participants were awarded an accredited certificate, empowering them with tools to embark on the journey to practice and offer sound healing modalities.

ELE|NA Spa: A Holistic Oasis

She added ELE|NA’s approach is “Wellness Your Way”, allowing for carefully curated approaches adapted to individual requirements. She revealed that ELE|NA plans to expand its wellness offerings with Tai Chi, Reiki and breathwork. Participants can look forward to embarking on a journey with sound healing workshops and retreats, and various healing practices.
